COMMUNITIES can be celebrated with parades, bands, bingo sessions, street parties, football, gossip and even karaoke nights.
But for men the heart of the old communities was often the barber’s shop, where, while waiting for a trim, they could chat about the ways of the world..
That is why Tommy Torbo’s hairdressing salon in Liverpool’s Scotland Road is showing photographs of the old communities.
These are some of the images from the Changing Face of Local Communities’ exhibition, run by the Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council and to be displayed at various locations on the city.
The whole collection will be exhibited at the World Museum, Liverpool, in July.
