We can't believe we live here sometimes

DEBBIE Johnson meets two former university flatmates who can't get enough of city life

As Joanne and Sara both work in the city centre, they have always been attracted to living in the area.

Sara's previous apartment was in Concert Square, which she loved, but the two decided to move to their current home, in an elegant Georgian town house, just before Christmas.

Sara says: "We moved in literally a couple of days before. I love the area so much. We are five minutes from the city centre, but there is a real sense of community here, plus lots of great pubs are nearby. It has all the benefits of city centre living, but is also very quiet and peaceful - I have such good nights sleep here! Concert Square was great, but well and truly in the hustle and bustle, and I do enjoy the sense of calm you get when you walk even five minutes from the city centre."

The apartment benefits from the traditional features of period properties - in particular, high ceilings and glorious sash windows that flood the lounge with light.

The living and dining area is painted in neutral colours, but cheered up enormously by vivid red sofas, and there is plenty of natural daylight from the windows. Dining and coffee tables are made of glass, and the flooring is wooden.

Sara says: "We love this room - it is so beautiful, we can't believe we live here sometimes!"

The kitchen is also a popular room with the pair, as they both enjoy cooking, and find that they tend to have chats at the end of the day in there. The floor is tiled with dark grey, and the room benefits from a giant US-style fridge with ice machine, as well as another picture window.

Both bedrooms are carpeted, and Sara's has fitted, mirrored wardrobes: "Handy for shoving everything into!" she says.

The bathroom, though, is clearly a firm favourite.
