Debbie Johnson meets the high-living city couple who have Liver Birds for neighbours
"It is a very sociable place," says Bernard, "we have a lot of visitors, we like parties and events, and this can easily hold around 100. The outside area gives us the best of both worlds."
The Beetham Plaza, with its inspiring architecture, classy reputation and location, is something that to Bernard symbolises the "new" Liverpool.
He says: "I came back here from London in the '80s, and at first I thought I'd made a terrible mistake. But I love the place, it is one of the great cities of the world, and what has happened here over the last 20 years is nothing short of dramatic."
