Debbie Johnson meets a man whose Hope Place house also provides a showcase for his work
JON BARRACLOUGH has what is possibly the least stressful commute to work in the whole of Liverpool.
From his delightful Georgian home in Hope Place to the offices of his company Nonconform on the corner of Hope Street is the mammoth distance of a few hundred feet.
“It takes about one and a half minutes," he says, "and that's if I fumble with my keys."
The location of the family home is ideal – his wife works in Rodney Street and his son attends school nearby as well.
It also comes with superb views of not only both of the city's cathedrals, but one of its finest churches of ale – the Cracke beer garden.
"Living here is pretty special," says Jon, "we can go to the Phil and come home in the interval, and I can walk pretty much anywhere in town within 20 minutes. Our carbon footprint must be tiny! It is city centre, but it has a lot of class."
The stunning row of houses in Hope Place is one of the city's most appealing terraces – they certainly don't build them like that any more, which is reflected in the way that each of the buildings seems to be cherished by its inhabitants.
The Barraclough home is no different, and is fronted by a rose garden.
