Debbie Johnson meets a young Irishman who’s made Liverpool his home
Being a “proper bloke”, though, doesn’t mean “mess” – which is lucky as his new apartment is very much on the lighter shade of pale when it comes to decor.
The floor is laminate in the kitchen, but carpeted a rich beigey cream elsewhere.
The walls and much of the furniture are also done in neutral tones – surely an accident waiting to happen?
“No, I’m really clean and tidy,” says Riain. “I’m not worried about it at all.
“I will aim to keep my shoes off in the hallway, and keep my beer in the glass instead of on the floor, and we should be okay.
“I’m really delighted with the place, though, it is going to be a brilliant bachelor pad for me.”
Although the flat is on the small side – the second bedroom is set up as an office with a sofabed for guests – clever use of storage means that Riain has plenty of places to put his gear.
The furniture, from the coffee table to the fitted wardrobes, has all been chosen with storage maximisation in mind, freeing up the floor space for actually living in.
The views are fantastic – over the river to the Wirral, and, of course, with all the benefits of being positioned by the Yacht Club and its unique social life.
