Everything from your eyebrows to your toenails revamped in just 60 minutes. Can it be done? Emma Johnson reports
FOR busy women these days the buzzword is time management. When you are juggling a job, social life and family everything has to be done in a heartbeat.
There is little time for relaxing facials and day-long spa sessions in the crazy modern world we now live in.
So beauty rituals like everything else have had to adapt and never mind getting a spray tan in your lunch hour, or a spot of microdermabrasion, these days you can even get your breasts enlarged in the same time frame.
In Liverpool, women in need of an all over beauty fix in their lunchtime or as they swing from workplace to winebar, can get the full beauty works at Zoo hair salon and its neighbour, the recently-opened Coco Moon beauty salon, where they have just launched the joint venture – the Power Hour or 60-minute makeover.
In an hour or less, clients are treated to a blow dry, eyelash tint, eyebrow shape and mini manicure and pedicure.
“Having a salon based in the business district we tend to have a lot of professional clients for whom time is a premium,” Zoo owner Brian Foy explains.
“We often have clients who have accepted last minute invitations to networking events and launches and this service means that there is now no excuse for turning down such invitations. For the sake of one hour, you can now arrive at every event regardless of notice, looking salon perfect.”
Sharon Finnigan, owner of Coco Moon, adds: “We have tried to create a haven for professional women and are conscious of the time constraints that many of our clients have to adhere to.Š
“Whether you can allocate half a day or half an hour, at Coco Moon our ultimate priority is to make our ladies feel special and ensure that they leave the studio feeling good about themselves.”
But a makeover in an hour, can the guys really pull it off? We put the power hour to the test with Liverpool model Katie Downes.
10.30am
Katie arrives at the Zoo Salon and is taken next door to Coco Moon for her eyelash tint.
10.40am
Katie has her eyebrows tidied up by beauty therapist Samantha Derbyshire and has a lavender oil applied to the eyebrow area to avoid redness following the waxing.
10.46am
Katie is back in the salon gowned up and shown to the backwash, where her hair is washed andŠconditioned, ready to be styled.
10.58am
Katie is at a work station ready for salon owner Bryan Foy to commence with her style.
11.03am
Samantha nips into the salon and sits herself next to Katie with her manicure trolley to begin a quick fix file and polish on Katie’s nails while Bryan continues with the styling process.
11.15am
Samantha turns her attentions to Katie’s feet which are also treated to a quick fix file and polish and topped off with this summer’s hottest nail colour, sugary pink.
11.27am
Bryan Foy finishes off Katie’s hair and she still has enough time to enjoy a cappuccino within the hour.
Katie’s verdict: “I would not have thought you could feel so different in one hour. It is fantastic being able to have everything you need done without having to allow half a day for it.”
The Power Hour is priced at £55.For more details call Zoo 0151 255 1001 or Coco Moon 0151 231 1600.
