Stepping out in holiday style

IT WOULD take seven camels, three footmen and a wheelbarrow to carry the average woman’s holiday wardrobe – that is until she has packed, repacked and borrowed an elephant from the local zoo to sit on her case before she can finally zip it up.

Fortunately, with a bit of careful planning, it is possible to travel lightly. And what better excuse to treat yourself to a few new items that – you can argue – will see you through from day to night.

Pretty daytime sun-dresses can be dressed up for evening with a wrap and heels, while kaftans and loose blouses work over bikinis for the beach and paired with a belt and mini for a meal on the terrace.

THE Albert Dock, the largest group of Grade 1-listed buildings in Britain, is the setting for this week’s shoot. Opened on July 30, 1846, by Prince Albert, it was the first structure in the country to be built entirely of cast iron, brick and stone.

Sadly, it gradually fell out of use and was finally closed in 1972 after which it was allowed to fall into disrepair before extensive redevelopment during the 1980s.

It is now one of Liverpool’s most popular tourist destinations.

It is home to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate Liverpool and a range of chic bars and restaurants.
