WHILE bronzed beauties were once the goddesses of summer, global warming and dangerous UV rays have put an end to sunbathing on sheets of tinfoil with merely a squirt of lotion for protection.

Although those with a steady hand and meticulous precision may delight in tans from a tube, there are still many who opt for the pale and interesting look.

English roses should enhance their ivory colouring with pastel fabrics and girly patterns.

Nipped-in waists, delicate cardigans and floaty dresses all give the impression that, while your body may be chained to a desk stacked with papers, your soul is nibbling scones in a country tearoom or smelling the blossoms in the park.

THE lavish surroundings of Sudley House, the former home of a wealthy Victorian merchant family, was the location for this week’s fashion shoot.

Owned by National Museums Liverpool, the sandstone mansion was reopened in May following a two-year £1m refurbishment.

Set in the heart of suburban Liverpool, it contains the only art collection of a Victorian merchant, George Holt, still in its original domestic setting.
