Laura Davis on the Dame’s new collection
Kaydee wears print dress, £580, black elevated court shoes, £300, Empire bag, £335, Neo bas relief pendant, £120; Matthew wears Dog tooth suit, £565, black striped shirt, £225, Army Spungna boot, £340, belt, £70
AS IS fitting in a city about to be European Capital of Culture, Vivienne Westwood’s new season designs are inspired by the graceful movements of the Ballet Rousse and the vivid hues of art works.
The intense colours of Russian artist and costumier Leon Bakst’s paintings are reflected in the palette of her Red Label collection, aimed at independent and powerful women.
Meanwhile, the Anglomania line is created with the romantic dreamer in mind, combining with English tradition and punk references with images from dance.
Westwood’s menswear collection, Peep Show, features influences from the Wild West world theatre of life such as cowboys, hustlers, bikers, poets, soldiers and sporting Oxbridge types.
THE atmospheric halls of County Sessions House were the location for this week’s fashion shoot.
Built in 1884, the former courthouse is one of the buildings across Merseyside with behind-the-scenes access this weekend, as part of the national Heritage Open Days event.
Tickets for the tours have already been sold out, but you can get exclusive access to hidden parts of some of National Museums Liverpool’s other venues, including The Oratory, World Museum Liverpool, the National Conservation Centre and the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
