You can get yourself a real bargain if you follow Laura Davis’s simple advice
TEMPTATION, as you will no doubt have discovered when faced with copious glasses of wine, plates of mince pies and boxes of chocolate truffles, is a terrible thing.
And it’s not over yet. There are still the sales to test out your capacity for restraint.
The best way to keep your wallet as bulging as your waistline is to set yourself a budget before you leave the house; that way, you won’t be tempted to over-spend.
Resist buying items you wouldn’t pay full price for – if you could afford it, that is. Just because a dress is designer doesn’t mean you should fork out for a short spangly number that would only fit over your right leg.
Buy for the size you are, not the size you want to be. If that January detox actually works this year, then you will deserve a new wardrobe by Easter. In the meantime, accept your shape and only go for clothes that flatter it.
Go for classic pieces that aren’t season-led, and stock up on accessories – they can make a cheaper outfit look more expensive.
