WHETHER you’re planning a winter stroll along the beach, or just need to hide from the rain on the way into work, a warm coat is the essential item for the bitter January days.
Wrapping yourself up in a cosy parka or military jacket is the per- fect antidote to the gloomy weather.
Colours this year range from muted stones and khaki to bright block hues. Add a woolly scarf or tasteful pashmina and a snug pair of gloves for the ultimate in cosiness.

WINDSWEPT Crosby beach is the setting for this week’s fashion shoot.
This wide expanse of sand was a favourite with the upper classes during the Victorian era, who liked to stroll along and take the air.
It is also the location of internationally-renowned artist Antony Gormley’s sculpture, Another Place – 100 iron figures facing out to sea – that were cast from his own body.
