Spring really is just around the corner, so it’s time to prepare for warmer days. Laura Davis reports

IT’S exactly 38 days until the clocks go forward an hour and, although the odd daffodil has tentatively opened its blooms to the freezing air, it’s still a bit early to be thinking about stripping off the layers just yet.

The crossover between winter and spring is always a tricky one in terms of fashion. The shops are full of colourful summer dresses ready for Aintree, but there’s a chill in the wind that prevents you from buying them.

If you can’t hold out for warmer weather before getting out the plastic, then go for a mixture of light layers and cosy fabrics.

Pick items you can complement with cooler garments as the weather gets warmer – you’ll get more wear out of a raincoat than a wool mix for instance, and a skirt made from heavy material can be transformed for spring with some thinner knitwear or a blouse.

KINGDOM, the latest swanky bar/club to be latched on to by Liverpool’s thriving social scene, is the setting for this week’s fashion shoot.

Furnishings are in an ethereal white – so be careful with the red wine – and feature ice buckets built into the tables should you have an excuse to drink Champagne.

There is even a tongue-in-cheek nod to the three beautiful buildings lining Liverpool’s famous waterfront, with images of Antonio Canova's statue The Three Graces used throughout.
