Fashion: Tailor made for an elegant summer’s day

Laura Davis suggests a few more formal outfits that will keep you fit for anything during the glorious warmer weather

IN THE warmer months we are expected to float along in flowing garments like damsels from a fairytale which, fire-breathing dragons and wicked fairies aside, is generally a pleasant experience.

But sometimes, maybe on one of the muggier days, we get the craving for something with a bit more structure.

Not going as far as reviving the thick black tights look perhaps, but a bit of soft tailoring is a good antidote to the feeling of being swamped by swathes of fabric like a hapless camper when the tent collapses.

THE Bluecoat with its grand courtyard, huge arched windows and charming garden is the location for this week’s fashion shoot.

One of Liverpool’s oldest buildings, it is also one of the city’s newest cultural spaces – reopened earlier this year after an extensive refurbishment to create a new arts wing, four new galleries, 200-seat performance space, a new coffee bar and shops.

The art works from the New Ends Old Beginnings exhibition that feature in the shoot are Untitled by Tark Al Ghoussein (blue prints), Deposit by Can Altay (mirrored surface with a speaker inset) and drawings by Chourouk Hriech.
