ALL the girls like to dress up for Christmas Day, but nothing’s to stop the boys following suit. Few clothes look as dressed up and dashing on a chap as a well-cut whistle, and a tie – the dreaded Christmas present that usually ranks alongside socks and hankies in terms of desirability – can add oodles of up-to-the-minute style.

The skinny tie is still going strong but, for a more grown-up air, a fat Windsor knot adds colour and class.

THIS week’s fashion shoot took place at The Bluecoat.

Standing just behind Liverpool’s busy Church Street, the imposing Georgian building and courtyard offers an oasis of calm.
It’s home to a gallery space, a packed programme of cultural events and the newly-refurbished Upstairs at the Bluecoat restaurant and bar.
