Beatle's £6m house for sale

John and Cynthia Lennon during the Flower Power days, back in the sixties

THE Surrey mansion John Lennon shared with first wife Cynthia is up for sale.

But anyone interested in owning a slice of Beatle history will need a cool £6m in their pocket.

The Lennons lived at Kenwood in Wey-bridge with young son Julian for four years during the height of Beatlemania.

Neighbours on the exclusive St George's Hill estate included Ringo Starr and his wife Maureen who lived in a house called Sunny Heights, while George Harrison lived in nearby Esher.

Lennon would work on his songs in the attic using a system of tape recorders.

He would also often be found sitting in a chair, reading the papers and watching TV, which led to the 1966 Revolver track I'm Only Sleeping.

The house was sold in 1968 after Lennon started his affair with artist Yoko Ono.

The 17-room mock Tudor home, which cost £20,000 in 1964, is on the market for £5.95m.

It has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, sauna and swimming pool.
