McCartney intruder detained yards from home

The star had been having lunch locally with friends, but then amended ed his plans, and decided not to return home until later in the evening.

A spokesman for Sussex police confirmed last night: “We received a call from a security officer at Peasmarsh and later arrested a man at his home address.

“He was initially arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and failing to stop when challenged by police.

“He was later detained under the Mental Health Act and is not facing criminal charges.”

Two weeks ago, Sussex police investigated a suspicious man who had spent four days trying to follow the musician and his staff in a blacked-out Volvo car.
