THE annual exhibition of Beatles art, Come Together, has been saved.

Each year the show has taken place at the Liverpool Academy of Arts – but this year, attempts to get funding from the Liverpool Culture Company failed.

Director and artist June Lornie said at the time that the exhibition was in doubt.

Ms Lornie was re- commended to approach the Community Foundation for Merseyside, launched in 2004 with the aim of distributing grants to voluntary and community groups.

After filling in forms and undergoing an interview, a relieved Ms Lornie was granted funding – in fact more than she had asked for, which will be used for extra exhibition work.

The show will run now from August 6 to August 31 at the academy’s new temporary gallery based on the old paint shop in Seel Street.

Meanwhile, Ms Lornie is asking for brassieres to exhibit in a special show in October, unusual ones, famous ones or just old ones.
