Sir Paul McCartney’s present from Liverpool – a silver postcard

Cheryl Fialka of Links with Post card to be given to Sir Paul McCartney

A SILVER postcard featuring a scene of the Liverpool waterfront will be presented to Sir Paul McCartney tonight.

The musical legend will be at Liverpool Cathedral for the northern premiere of his choral work Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart), dedicated to first wife Linda – his first visit to his home town in Capital of Culture year. Cathedral staff were looking for the perfect gift for the former Beatle when they found the postcard in Links of London at the Metquarter.

The embossed sterling silver “postcard” is something they have offered customers to tailor to their own designs since opening in the shopping complex.

The store started selling them with images of the Liverpool waterfront after manager Cheryl Fialka came up with the idea.

The back of the postcard is marked with a Liver Bird “stamp” and Capital of Culture year commemoration.

Ms Fialka said: “The cathedral asked if we would donate one to present to Sir Paul and we were very happy to oblige.

“My parents had their diamond wedding last year and I decided to ask our engraver if he could put the Liverpool waterfront on. He did, and it looked fantastic.”
