TOMORROW sees the first Beatles Day take place in Liverpool.
The day, which will celebrate the city’s most famous sons and raise money for charity at the same time, culminates with Summer Pops show Imagine – The Concert, where everyone from the Swinging Blue Jeans to John Power will be giving their own spin on a classic Beatles song.
But before that, Beatles tribute bands will be found busking all around the city – even on roofs, to re-enact the Fab Four’s last gig on the top of the Apple Corps building.
Beatles Mop-top wigs, are available for £5 at outlets in the city centre, with proceeds going towards the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal and Liverpool Unites.
Between 6am and 9am the Backbeat Beatles will be doing their thing on a ferry ’cross the Mersey, and from then until 6pm The Beatlemaniacs will play live from a double decker bus, around all the Beatles hotspots such as Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, stopping for a special performance in Williamson Square from 12pm until 2pm
The band’s former publicist Sam Leach will be meeting Beatles fans at the Grapes next Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 6pm.
