Biggest collection of Beatle George Harrison memorabilia in St George’s Hall

The exhibition will be in seven different parts because seven was his lucky number.

Each part will explore a different part of his personality from the Beatle to the car maniac, from the producer to the gardener.

The collection on show is mainly from private collectors and much of it has never been seen before. Included is one of his guitars, original unseen photographs and a pair of heart-shaped sun glasses he wore in the summer of 1967, in San Francisco.

Mrs Theophilus added: “There are a lot of sides to George that people don’t know about and we want to offer an in-depth look at him.

“We originally wanted to start a museum in his memory, but that takes an awful lot of money to set one up and to maintain it.

“So an exhibition was the next best, but it isn’t permanent.

“George was always known as the quiet one, but he had a wicked sense of humour.

“He and Paul tricked two fans into thinking that they were really brothers and George signed his name “George McCartney” for them.
