Humble jay cloth given new image in Samantha Donnelly’s Should to Shoulder exhibition at Ceri Hand Gallery, Liverpool

Samantha Donnelly, Modern Muse

SAMANTHA DONNELLY opens her second show at Ceri Hand Gallery tomorrow – an investigation into what it is to be consuming, and consumed, in today’s image-obsessed culture.

The title, Shoulder to Shoulder, is taken from a dark and ironic BBC historical drama series, depicting the women's suffragette movement in Britain.

Sculptural works fill the Cotton Street gallery space, from Public Pattern, a series of relief works based around the humble J Cloth, to Modern Muse (Bust), a reflection on the tension between representation, perception and desire.

SHOULDER to Shoulder runs until July 23.
