Rescue deal for Mathew Street festival fails

A RESCUE deal to try to save the Mathew Street Festival has failed.

All outdoor elements of the festival will have to be cancelled, a meeting of the Culture Company board confirmed today.

An expanded indoor festival will take place, with up to 60 pubs and clubs taking part.

But Europe’s biggest street festival will now not take place as health and safety concerns won the day.

More follows.
