Two suspects in Huyton murder hand themselves in

Thomas Harrison, killed in Huyton,

THE two prime suspects wanted in connection with the murder of a devoted dad today handed themselves in to police.

Kevin Keegan Corke and his half- brother Carl Anthony Taylor walked into a police station in Staffordshire at 12.30am, ending a 10-day manhunt.

The development came as the family of dad-of-one Tommy Harrison, 29, spoke for the first time about their devastating loss.

His brother Kevin, 24, and sister Jenny, 30, said their close family would never be the same again.

Fighting back tears Miss Harrison said: “Tommy was my best friend and always will be.

“He was always laughing and joking. That is how I’ll remember him.

“His life revolved around his son [three-year-old Joel]. There was nothing else in his world other than little Joel.

“Joel’s mum has told him his daddy is in heaven now but how is a three- year-old expected to understand?

“I was at the party before he was killed and the last time I saw him I was buying him a drink.

“I left and the next thing I know our cousin is banging on the door telling me Tommy has been stabbed.”

Brother Kevin said: “It is hard to believe we will never see him again.

“We are a really close family and a big part of us had gone forever.”

Interpol were called in to help search for Corke, 31, and Taylor, 20, after the murder on Huyton’s St John’s estate.

Air and sea ports were also put on standby as it was feared they could try to skip the country.

But they both strolled up to the front desk at Hanley police station in the early hours and told officers police were looking for them.

Detectives were today on their way to Staffordshire to formally arrest the pair on suspicion of murder and bring them back to Merseyside for questioning.

They are both related to Michael Barton and Paul Taylor – jailed for life for the racist murder of black teenager Anthony Walker.

Mr Harrison was stabbed to death in Edinburgh Drive at around 2.30am on August 5, half an hour after leaving an 18th birthday party at the St John’s social club.

The Everton fan was knifed three times in the chest - one blow piercing his heart.

He was cradled by girlfriend Pamela Nile until paramedics arrived but he died later in Whiston Hospital.
