The funeral of Liam 'Smigger' Smith

THREE people were today convicted of the murder of teenager of Liam Smith.

Ryan Lloyd, 18, Thomas Forshaw, 18, and a 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, were found guilty of murder by a Liverpool crown court jury.

Mr Smith, 19, who was known as Smigger, was shot dead as he left Altcourse prison after visiting a friend, exactly one year ago today.

The prosecution have alleged his death was the result of an feud between rival gangs from Croxteth and Norris Green.

Lloyd, of Silverwell Road, Croxteth, and Forshaw, of Middle Way, Croxteth, and the youth will be sentenced in September.

The jury acquitted another 16-year old of murder.

The jurors are still deliberating verdicts in relation to Liam Duffy, 25, of Polperro Close, Croxteth, and Anthony Rimmer, 20, of Parkview Road, Croxteth, who deny murder.

Also on trial were Gerard McKeown, 27, Ashley Nolan, 35, and Peter Kelly, all of no fixed address and all of whom were cleared of assisting an offender.

David Carr, 35, was convicted of the charge.

Joseph Johns, 20, of Silverwell Road, Croxteth, was acquitted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
