Newborn baby found in Liverpool garden

A newborn baby was found abandoned in the garden of a house, police said today.

The boy was believed to be just hours old and had his umbilical cord still attached.

He was discovered in a garden in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool by a member of the public last night.

Merseyside Police are appealing for the mother to come forward.

A spokeswoman said: “The baby was found in the garden of a house at about 11pm last night.

“He has been taken to Fazakerley Hospital and was later transferred to Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

“We are obviously concerned for the well-being of the mother and we will be making an appeal for her to come forward.”
