AIRLINES are getting better at filling seats on flights from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, new figures suggest.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority’s latest figures, which run up to the end of October, the number of flights in and out of JLA is down 6.5% when compared with the first six months of 2006.
But the number of passengers travelling through JLA over the same time period is up 10.5% compared with January-October, 2006.
Almost 459,000 passengers used JLA last month, giving the airport an annual total so far of 5,436,314. The airport is expected to break through the 6m visitors mark for the first time this year.
The reduction in flights has been blamed mainly on consolidation within the package holiday business, which has led to fewer charter flights, but those which are flying have been fuller.
