Crewe & Nantwich by-election count underway

COUNTING is now well underway in the crucial Crewe and Nantwich by-election.

Poll cards litter the tables at Nantwich Civic Hall as dozens of counters have been drafted in to verify the ballot
papers and record the all important candidate votes.

Television crews, photographers and a pack of reporters have crammed into the count as ballot boxes are being brought in
watched by police.

But what we are all waiting for are the prospective parliamentary candidates however it has been rumoured
that they won't be showing up until gone midnight.

So for the time being we are keeping a watchful eye on the ballot papers in the hope of catching a glimpse of
how the people of Crewe and Nantwich have been voting.

However officials say they are not expecting a result until about 2am Friday which means a long and anxious wait not only
for those candidates who are fighting for the all important seat, but especially in the corridors of power.
