Liverpool teenager found dead in Northwich

Police attend the scene where a dead body was discovered at Peckforton Way in the Castle area of Northwich

A LIVERPOOL teenager has been found dead in a house in Cheshire, and police are treating the death as a murder inquiry.

Rhys Butler, 17, from Speke, died on Tuesday after paramedics were called to a house in Northwich to find him collapsed.

A 999 call was made from the house on Peckforton Way at just after 5.40pm. The caller said a man had collapsed in the living room and needed urgent attention.

Paramedics pronounced the teenager dead at the scene shortly after arriving.

Police launched the murder inquiry after the result of a Home Office post-mortem yesterday but officers have refused to disclose the findings of the pathologist.

A 30-year-old woman, thought to be from the house in which Rhys was found, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder and detectives were given an additional 36 hours to question her this afternoon.

Cheshire Police said the boy’s next-of-kin had been informed but they were unable to say why he was 20 miles from home.
