Colin Smith: Man arrested over Liverpool gun murder

Colin Smith

A MAN was being questioned today about the execution of gangster Colin Smith.

The 42 year-old was arrested by police officers at an address in Garston this morning on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

His arrest came after police officers carried out warrants at five addresses, four of which were residential and one of which was a business, believed to be related to the arrested man.

It is the first arrest that has been made in the investigation into the killing on November 13 last year.

Father-of-five Mr Smith, 40, said to be the former right-hand man of Curtis Warren, was shot twice at close range with a pump action shotgun as he left Nel’s gym in Speke.

He was targeted as he walked to his car, a black Ford Galaxy, which was parked in Alder Wood Avenue.

He collapsed on the pavement with wounds to his stomach and died at the scene.
