Wirral man dies while out walking in Snowdonia

A 72-year-old man from the Wirral collapsed and died while out walking in Snowdonia this morning.

The man, not named, was with four other friends walking on the hills just north of Bethesda on Moel Faban when he suddenly complained of chest pains.

Ogwen Moutain Rescue team was alerted and although the ten-man team reached him very quickly in their Land Rover he was dead.

RAF Valley rescue helicopter airlifted him to Ysbyty Gwynedd and the coroner has been informed.
