Commuters stranded following incident at Bank Hall station

COMMUTERS were stranded this afternoon after a 41 year-old woman slipped between a train and the platform at Bank Hall station.

Merseyrail is unsure how the accident occurred at about 3.40pm today.

Staff immediately notified their control centre who cut power to the Northern Line while emergency services were called from Kirkdale fire station.

The woman was taken to Fazakerley hospital with head injuries.

Rudy Boersma, spokesman for Merseyrail, said: "Fortunately the emergency services arrived within about three minutes and she was lifted out without any major injuries.

"However because of where the station is, services were disrupted to Ormskirk, Kirkby."

Power was turned on again at 4pm and services began to run more smoothly by 5.30pm.
