Human remains found on Saddleworth Moor

THE family of Moors Murders victim Keith Bennett are anxiously awaiting information after reports that his remains have been found by a search team.

Unofficial reports suggest that a number of bones have been unearthed on Saddleworth Moor in the area where child killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley buried their victims.

Police teams have been systematically searching for the body of Keith, who was tortured and killed more than 40 years ago.

The 12-year-old was among five children known to have been killed by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in and around Manchester in the early 1960s.

Keith's body is known to be buried on the moor but repeated attempts to find his body previously ended in failure.

Hindley was jailed for life in 1966 with her lover Brady for the murders of 10-year-old Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans, 17.

Brady was also convicted of murdering 12-year-old John Kilbride while Hindley was found to have been an accessory.

In 1987 the pair confessed to killing Keith Bennett and Pauline Reade, 16.

Brady is serving his sentence at Ashworth Hospital on Merseyside. Hindley died in prison six years ago.
