Two arrested after armed robbery at Birkenhead off license

POLICE have arrested two me after an armed robbery at a Birkenhead off license last night.

At 10pm two men entered Bargain Booze on Borough Road armed with an imitation handgun and a knife. They threatened the members of staff and assaulted one of them before leaving with the till. The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with a minor facial injury.

The till and an imitation firearm were recovered nearby. A 32-year-old and 43-year old were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery following police enquiries. A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Inspector George Davies said: "Merseyside Police will track down and take firm action against the people involved in serious crime. Members of the public helped us greatly in our enquiries and I am pleased that we made these arrests so quickly after the offence took place. "
