TWO men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at an off-licence in Birkenhead last night.
At 10pm two men burst into the Bargain Booze in Borough Road, one armed with what is believed to be an imitation handgun and the other with a knife.
They threatened the members of staff and assaulted one of them before leaving with the till. The 23-year-old man, victim of the attack, was taken to hospital with a minor facial injury.
The till and an imitation firearm were later recovered nearby. A 32-year-old and 43-year old were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery following police inquiries. A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Inspector George Davies said: "Merseyside Police will track down and take firm action against the people involved in serious crime.
"Members of the public helped us greatly in our inquiries and I am pleased that we made these arrests so quickly after the offence took place. "
Witnesses to the robbery are asked to contact Birkenhead CID on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
