THE victim of an alleged Warrington murder has been named.

Roy Waterfield, 56, was found dead by police in a house in the Leicester Street area on Wednesday.

A postmortem concluded he had died of a stab wound.

His body was discovered after officers picked up a 39-year-old man on Lovely Lane, Bewsey, who was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

He had some minor injuries.

The suspect was still being questioned today, after police applied for a 36 hour extension.

The force is appealing for witnesses, who should contact Cheshire Police.
