PM Gordon Brown pays tribute to Liverpool's success

Gordon Brown on visit to Liverpool

PRIME Minister Gordon today praised Liverpool’s “extraordinary success” as European Capital of Culture on a visit to the city.

After addressing business leaders at the Echo Arena, Liverpool Mr Brown made his way to St George’s Hall where he met community groups.

The huge spider, the main part of the La Machine public art exhibition, was being removed from Concourse House opposite St George’s as Mr Brown arrived.

On arrival, he was greeted by Culture Secretary Andy Burnham, Culture Company chairman Bryan Gray and culture supremo Phil Redmond.

Mr Brown said: “I want to congratulate Liverpool’s extraordinary success as European Capital of Culture.
