A TEENAGER helped save a mum and her two toddlers who were trapped by fire at their home.

Student Andrew Dalton, 17, raced to the rescue after hearing screams coming from a house in Coulthard Road, Rock Ferry.

He saw the terrified woman at the upstairs bedroom window with her daughters aged two and three.

He said: “The woman was screaming and holding onto her kids, there was thick black smoke everywhere and they were terrified.

“I looked around and saw a neighbour, Collette Gooden pleading with her to get the children down.

“We saw that the wheelie bin was nearby and we just said ‘Move the bin to the window.”

“We pushed it near enough and Collette tried to held it steady while I got on to it - it was really wobbly and it was a bit scary, but I just held my arms up we were shouting to drop the kids to me."

Two adults and children were taken to Arrowe Park Hospital to be treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
