Samurai sword wielding robbers strike at Spar store

A ROBBER wielding a samurai-type sword threatened a supermarket worker before making off with cash.

Two men entered the Spar store, Halton Brook, Runcorn, at 8.30pm last night, as the store was about to close.

One of the men threatened a staff member to gain access to the safe.

The men stole a quantity of cash and made off on foot toward the Halton Brook estate.

The male armed with the sword is described as white, 5ft 11in tall, approx 30-35 years of age and of stocky build.

He was wearing a black hooded top and concealed his face with a blue scarf.

The second offender is described as a young adult male, 5ft 7in in height and of average build.

He was wearing dark clothing and concealed his face with a black scarf.

Both males are described as having local accents.

The staff member, a 38-year-old local male was uninjured, though has been left shocked and scared by the incident.
