Zavvi in Liverpool One _460
MORE than 40 jobs at the Liverpool One branch of entertainment chain zavvi have been saved after administrators clinched a sale deal with two companies.
High street giant HMV and new company Head Entertainment, run by former zavvi chief executive Simon Douglas, have agreed to buy 13 zavvi stores between them, employing 380 staff, but 18 zavvi stores will close this Friday with the loss of 446 jobs.
In total HMV has bought 19 former zavvi stores following its administration last Christmas Eve.
The chain was hit by problems with one of its main suppliers which was part of the Woolworth’s group which itself had gone into administration.
Zavvi stores in Liverpool’s Clayton Square and Ellesmere Port’s Cheshire Oaks outlet mall closed during the administration process.
However, Liverpool One’s zavvi store, which employs 41 staff, is one of eight sites bought by the new Head business.
