CELEBRATED stage screen actor Jonathan Pryce is returning to the Everyman Theatre later this year in a role he says he has always wanted to act.

His appearance follows the sell-out success of Pete Postlethwaite’s King Lear during Capital of Culture year.”

Pryce said: “The Everyman is where everything started for me. It was the most exciting and innovative theatre in the country committed to the local population.

“Last year Chris Morahan (the play’s director) asked me if I have ever thought of playing Davies in The Caretaker. I said yes – and I want to do it in Liverpool.”

As well as a critically acclaimed stage career, Pryce has starred in big-budget Hollywood productions including Evita, Tomorrow Never Dies and the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Everyman and Playhouse artistic director Gemma Bodinetz said: “We are very excited to have Jonathan with us. He is one of the great Everyman alumni.”
