ROLLERBLADING pensioner Geoff Dornan has backed out of his appeal court battle to defend his right to skate in Southport.
The dramatic decision came less than 24 hours ahead of his Liverpool Crown Court date tomorrow when where the Ormskirk OAP was due to battle to overturn Southport magistrates' decision last year.
Mr Dornan had vowed to fight Sefton Council at appeal, but today said his change of heart was the result of legal advice.
Losing his appeal court battle could have cost the retired youth worker about £7,000, in addition to the £2,092 bill from the original court case.
On October 3 2008 Mr Dornan, 71, was landed with a bill of £2,092 in costs and court charges after being found guilty of breaking by-laws in Southport's Chapel Street.
