LIBERAL councillor Hazel Williams was sworn in as the city’s Lord Mayor last night.
She thanked her group colleague, Cllr Steve Radford, with a quip which brought the house down.
She said of openly-gay Cllr Radford: “Steve and I have been political colleagues for a long time, about 30 years. Had our personal lives been different, we might be celebrating our pearl wedding anniversary.”
Cllr Williams takes over from Lib-Dem Mike Storey as first citizen.
