A HOLIDAY home for young victims of crime or bullying and their families is the dream of a new charity set up in memory of murdered Merseyside toddler James Bulger.
The two-year-old, murdered in 1993, would have turned 21 this year and his mother, Denise Fergus, wants to create a lasting legacy.
With the backing of others, Mrs Fergus, 41, has set up the James Bulger Memorial Trust and called on Merseyside to help fund raise to build James Bulger House.
Mrs Fergus has already given her backing to the Red Balloon Learner House, in Anfield – a 15-place sanctuary for bullied children too afraid to go to school.
Now she has her sights set on another safe haven.
Mrs Fergus said: “I want to see good things done in James's name.
“I have already worked with another charity that recovers bullied schoolchildren and we achieved a great deal.
“Now I want to broaden-out that work to help bullied children and their families, and young victims of crime.
“But we also want to be able to reward children for good behaviour – those who have made positive contributions to society in all kinds of ways.
“Too often, the victims and simply the good kids are forgotten and we want to help change that.
