SUPPORT JLR: Quality at plant is the highest ever

FATHER and son Jimmy and Jason Wilding have given the plant 55 years’ service between them. Jimmy, 61, is responsible for ensuring the quality of cars leaving the plant.

Indirectly he gets to check on the work of Jason, 40. He is the production superintendent on the final lines – where the car takes shape before it goes onto wheels.

Jimmy said: “In the 1980s we could see the transition. We thought we were getting the Focus when we had the Escort, then we secured the Jaguar.

“During the trial they found the teamwork was really impressive. That’s why the X-type took off, why the car has sold so well.

Jason said: “The quality now is at the highest its ever been.”

Jason explains the quality is a result of the high skill levels and the commitment to agreed goals.
