Camilla's visit made my day

CHARLES and Camilla made their first visit to Liverpool together today.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were all smiles after their train arrived at Warrington this morning.

Camilla immediately won over the waiting crowds by going on a surprise walkabout before the royal couple went their separate ways for two of the day's engagements.

At the Royal Liverpool hospital patients, staff, visitors and civil dignitaries lined the corridors to welcome Camilla.

The duchess, who was dressed in a blue-grey skirt with matching long jacket and scarf, arrived to rounds of applause.

First stop was the official opening of the bone densitometry unit where she was presented with a bunch of pink and white roses by Ruby Porter, chairwoman of the Liverpool group of the National Osteoperosis Society.

As she unveiled a plaque she raised a laugh from onlookers as she compared the the silk cover on the plaque with her outfit - which was the same colour.

The duchess, who is president of the society, became a supporter in 1994 following the death of her mother from the condition.

She witnessed a scan on 83-year-old osteoperosis sufferer Verna Seward, from Mossley Hill.

Great-grandmother Verna was diagnosed with the condition 14 years ago and has been receiving treatment at the Royal for the past 13 years.

She said: "It was very exciting to see Camilla.

"She was very nice and it was good to see that a less publicised condition such as osteopersosis is being backed by the royals."
