A 23-YEAR-OLD man who repeatedly stabbed a man who was acting as a Good Samaritan, was yesterday jailed for three and a half years.
The incident happened when Jamie Gough was driving a van with colleague Geoffrey Allman.
Liverpool Crown Court heard they drove along Stanley Road, Kirkdale, and were flagged down by a barefoot woman, Nicola Bowman, from Aberdeen.
She asked them to take her back to her hotel after a detour to a house in Harcourt Street, Sandhills, where she had left her hotel room key, said Jeffrey Clarke, prosecuting.
While they were waiting for her, they became aware of a man, Peter Walters, who was arguing with her.
She came back to the van and they were about to drive away with her when Walters appeared armed with a large knife.
He pushed his arm through the driver's window and Mr Gough pushed Miss Bowman out of the way and he was then stabbed six times. The most serious injury was a wound two inches deep and an inch wide in his abdomen.
Walters, of Harcourt Street, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent.
