Kittens lead world into New Year

LIVERPOOL band Atomic Kitten will perform to an audience of millions for a worldwide New Year's Eve concert in Hong Kong.

The band has been selected to front one party for Nokia New Year's Eve, held across five capitals, and the girls are already rehearsing a 45-

minute greatest hits package with six backing dancers.

At the same time, The Black Eyed Peas, Scissor Sisters and Nelly Furtado will perform in New York, Berlin and Mumbai.

The five different events are expected to have a combined attendance of 1.3m, and a global television and internet audience of around 150m.

Atomic Kittens manager Martin O'Shea said: "The girls are very excited and they are already working hard to get the show ready."

Producer Harvey Goldsmith, the mastermind of Live Aid and Live8, will orchestrate the event.
