Blue Coat parents urged to fight C of E 'takeover'

“The school has been in existence nearly 300 years and the present head has been here for over 40 years, and in all that time the Church of England have had nothing to do with the school and have never put their hands in their pockets to help the school out financially.

“While everyone agrees that it would not change overnight if the church took it over, we believe everything would change gradually.

“Minority groups who send their children here now to receive a multi-faith education will not have that option in the future.”

The Diocese of Liverpool, who were not invited to last night’s meeting, have said they have no intention of “taking over” the school.
