THE prime suspect in a vicious alcohol-fuelled murder in Wirral kidnapped an elderly couple and forced them to drive him to London at knife-point, police revealed last night.Merseyside detectives said the couple, both in their 60s, were severely traumatised after being abducted overnight on Monday by 47-year-old Daniel Breaks. Breaks, described by police as “highly dangerous”, went on the run on Monday after the body of Simon Sutton was found dumped in an alleyway near Birkenhead Central Station. Last night, it emerged Mr Sutton, 40, was the boyfriend of Breaks’s sister. His beaten body was found by council workers cleaning the alleyway off Argyle Street, at 10.40am on Monday morning. Detectives revealed the dumped body was left undiscovered for almost a week, since Tuesday, April 10. Although a post mortem examination has been carried out, detectives said they would not release details of the cause of death as it was “pivotal to the case”. Police said they were highly concerned that Breaks, an “extremely violent man”, was travelling round the country, possibly with his girlfriend, and warned the public he must not be approached under any circumstance. Those who have previously encountered Breaks described him as a “frightening” and “intimidating individual” who would boast his brother was already serving a prison sentence for murder. One individual, too afraid of Breaks to give their name, described him as a “complete lunatic” who was often drunk and lived life on the edge. They said he would often brag about being ready to kill anybody and was “the type of guy who if he had said he was going to do something would go ahead and do it, with no regard for the law”. Another said he was highly aggressive and described him as a “very bad character”. It is understood that Breaks, who also has connections with the Allerton, Birkenhead and Eastham areas, used to often talk about his children. Last night, Assistant Chief Constable Patricia Gallan, of Merseyside Police, made a public appeal for information as to Breaks’ whereabouts and said detectives were highly concerned that he had the means to travel round the country. She said detectives did not know where he was or whether he had returned to Merseyside. She added: “We need the public’s help in tracing this man. “Daniel Breaks is considered to be dangerous and must not be approached. We believe he is a risk to the public. We are looking to speak to him in relation to the murder of Simon Sutton in Merseyside and in connection with allegations of abduction in Durham. “We understand that Mr Sutton had been drinking at a Wirral address on the night of Tuesday, April 10. During that evening, an argument broke out and Mr Sutton was viciously attacked. “His body was then left in an alleyway close to the address.” She continued: “We also want to speak to him in relation to the abduction of an elderly retired couple from their home in the Durham area who were abducted at knifepoint and taken to London in their car. “They were released un-harmed yesterday after being released in the Northolt area of London. “We understand that they have some sort of friendship with Breaks but are very traumatised. They are now back in Durham.” Police believe both incid-ents happened at the end of a drinking spree. “These are serious incidents,” said ACC Gallan. “He drinks heavily and his behaviour is triggered by alcohol.” Officers have already arrested three people from Birkenhead – a 39-year-old woman and two teenage boys – on suspicion of murder. They were questioned before being released on police bail on Tuesday.
