SOUTHPORT’S annual outdoor music extravaganza begins today at the town’s Victoria Park.
This year’s three-day Summer Classics Festival starts this evening with a special effects-laden show from The Australian Pink Floyd, followed tomorrow by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra with acclaimed Fleetwood tenor Alfie Boe, plus a firework display.
The finale on Sunday will see Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra perform with special guests Lulu, Southport’s own Marc Almond, jazz diva Ruby Turner and drummer Gilson Lavis.The 60ft stage, sound and lighting systems took four days to build..
The Summer Classics is one of Southport’s most popular annual events, where guests are invited to bring picnics and enjoy the atmosphere.
